Harvest Celebration

A Cultural Heritage Day Event
Saturday, October 15, 2005

Please join Fort Ross staff and volunteers at 11:00 in the
Old Russian Orchard, on the east side of Highway 1
on Fort Ross Road to harvest apples and pears.

We will tour the orchard learning about the history of these trees, the surrounding sites and  how the 1906 Earthquake affected this area.
After gathering as many apples and pears as we can, w
e will return to the Fort to make juice with our new apple press.
Costumed volunteers will demonstrate crafts and answer your questions about Settlement Ross which was home to a unique blend of
cultural groups - Russians, Creoles (the children of Russian men and Native North American women),

Native Alaskans, and
Native Californians (local Kashaya Pomo and Bodega Coast Miwok).
